A Southern Comfort Wedding

When dreaming up the perfect Southern comfort wedding reception Robyn and Justin knew it had to be at Robyn’s family’s plantation house. Not only was it a tradition to say “I do” there in her family, but it was a gorgeous venue they could do anything with. And let us tell you, their modern glam event was stunning, as was their impressive selection of food and drink. From weddingchicks.com”

The Reception

“From the/ Bride: Our wedding reception was a special place for me. This plantation house has been owned by my family for many years. Most of my generation of cousin and siblings were married here so I knew it was a place I wanted to join in the tradition in having my reception here too. Plus it was a blank canvas that allowed me to do whatever I wanted. Our Southern theme worked perfectly at the Salmen Fritchie House.”

The Cocktail Hour

“Our guest started with a cocktail hour where we had a Champagne and Beer bar. The food, catered by Patton’s Caterers, was endless with a seafood station mixed with shrimp, oysters and crab claws to the passed hors-d’oeuvre. My brother homebrewed his own beer for our wedding and we served it with mini sliders. The food and drinks were something very important to us to make sure no one left hungry or thirsty.”

The Cakes

“My cake was custom made by Royal Cakery, taking the designs from my dress and recreating them on the cake. Not only was that cake beautiful it tasted amazing! Justin’s cake took us a while to design. We knew we didn’t want something generic and all he wanted was it to be a cookie cake. Since he is an architect and I asked him a million times to do and redo our wedding floor plan, because changes were made daily, I thought why not blow this image up and make it look like a blueprint. It was so him and it turned out perfectly, plus he got his cookie cake.”

Let’s Dance

“Our first dance was under hanging orchids and greenery that was formed around the dance floor. The type of tent style we had also made us have 4 poles in the center of the room. We utilize these and create custom high boys with white drapery around it so that we didn’t have 4 ugly silver poles in the way of the dance floor. These high boys were great because it added more table space and also covered the poles. No one stopped dancing all night long.”
